Master Cleanse Day Two

Today started out strong, I woke up not hungry at all at around 7am. I weighed myself and found that I had already lost almost 5 pounds in the first day. That accomplishment (and believe me getting through that first day really is an accomplishment) motivated me for the better part of the day. As the day went on though I lost the taste for the lemonade and it became very hard for me to down each glass. I think I got up to about 4 glasses today (the minimum you’re supposed to drink is 6) so on the last glass I added double the ingredients just to get some more calories in me. I also had to resort to a cheat at the end of the night which was eating a small spoonfull of peanut butter, which helped a lot with my food headache. I even had some hunger blackouts where I yelled out names of restaurants I was going to either go to or order from at my roommate (how that’s supposed to threaten her in any way I’m still not sure but hey, I was hungry).

So here I am at the end of day two, stomach grumbling and starting to doubt that I will be able to last the full day at work tomorrow staying on the diet. Two days down, eight to go. Trying to stay motivated thinking about bathing suits and smaller sized jeans. Let’s see if I make it folks!

Learning to Master The Master Cleanse

Hello, Tumblr, it has been a while! I have vowed this year to get in shape, and therefore I’m kick starting weight loss and an over all healthy lifestyle with The Master Cleanse. (www.themastercleanse.org)

For those of you who don’t know much about the Cleanse, basically its an all liquid diet. When you’re hungry you drink a mixture of freshly squeezed lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne pepper. Sounds pretty gross huh? Well actually to my surprise the mixture wasn’t half bad. It tastes like lemonade but with a kick of spice in the after taste. Totally tolerable.

Day One started out not bad at all. But in my pre-cleanse life I was used to not eating much before getting to work anyhow (and I usually work around 4:30 in the afternoon, and even when working earlier I don’t usually eat before 3). I felt good, like not eating wouldn’t be a problem, and I was so happy that the lemonade was not bad tasting.

Little did I know as the day went on things would only get harder. At work we were hosting a cocktail party before dinner, and yours truly was passing hors d’oevres. A wonderful selection of blue cheese crostinis, endive with brie and mandarin oranges, shrimp and sausage, tomatoes with hummus and olives, and well, you catch my drift.

Also our very talented pastry chef prepared the dessert of the day for us to try: cake and fruit skewers with chocolate fondue. Yeah, that smelled amazing. But as easy as it would have been for me to sneak some of this food, to my surprise, I held out. All night smelling the delicious meals the guests were eating did get to me, and it was harder than I would have imagined.

I drank two of the lemonades during service, but by the time I came home had a major hunger headache. I made one last mixture (so I was up to the minimum of six per day) drank it and tried to relax and watch some TV with my roommate. No such luck, all I could think about was jumping on grubhub.com and ordering a nice large cheese and sausage pizza from Pete’s. I was going crazy. Time to take the nightly laxative and go to bed.

So that’s exactly what I did. Day one complete. Tomorrow I will post all about day two which I am halfway through right now and obviously, still alive.

Nine days to go!

Help!

I know I haven’t posted in this thing in forever, and I highly doubt anyone reads this anymore anyhow, but some friends of mind need some help and I want to get the word out where ever possible to help them out!

If you’ve ever seen or listened to the band Ha Ha Tonka you already know how absolutely talented and amazing they are. Sadly they have run into some really bad luck with transportation issues lately http://blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=7471062&blogId=533763363 and could really use any small donation you could scrap up to give to them. I can’t stress enough how amazing these dudes are and how much they would greatly appreciate your kindness. Donation instructions are in the above link.

And please if you can, spread the word. Thank you!!

I laughed out loud.
